Processing

Duration: 4 months

Type of work: Individual work

Topics: Processing, UI Design, Interactive tools

In this course we´ve worked with Processing, a programming environment for designers. The language is comparable to JavaScript, but is based on Java, but also has similarities with the C language. However, Processing has a much simpler base, but can also implement complex, hardware-related things and works object-oriented. Especially for the area of visualization Processing is very well suited. In this project, the design was not the main focus.

Project description

  • Deepening the understanding of interactive media and how they can be implemented
  • Training of logical thinking
  • Problem solving based on problem definitionsLearning by "doing" and direct experience
  • Enjoyment of programming own "tools"
  • Basic understanding for later collaboration in the fields of interface design, interaction design and software engineering
  • Strengthening of concept development and design

Goals

Project 1: Demonstration of the construction of a solar cell in various steps with animations, audio and interactive elements.

Project 2: Interactive quiz with random() function. Also with evaluation of the score at the end and an immediate indication of whether the answer was correct or incorrect.

Project 3: Interactive car race with countdown function. The position of the cars is always random after the start.

Project 4: Sickness tracker for sheep for farmers. If the user clicks on the button "check sickness" all sick sheep turn from white into red. How many sick sheep there are is always random. The sheep also move around inside their fences.
