Duration: 3 months
Type of work: Individual work
Topics: User research, desk research, human-centred design, UI design, Usability testing
I got the task to develop a new concept and design of a new leasing & financing module on my own responsibility for all Porsche models.
During my internship, I fell into an important phase in which a new design language was developed for the entire Porsche website and shop.
I used this time to implement the official Porsche Design System language in my project.
Project description
The goal was to assess the existing solution and potentially develop a new module for the leasing and financing area.
Goals
Step 1
I had to find out whether the existing leasing and financing calculator was being used and whether it offered users added value.
-
Analysis the usage behaviour of users on smartphones and desktops using the programs Dovetail and Fullstory.
-
Interpretation of the results using my research findings from academia and internal information about the target groups and their usage behaviour.
-
Based on extensive analysis, interpretation and research into the customer journey and other sources, I came to the conclusion that the current leasing calculator is not appropriate and is not used effectively.
Therefore, it does not offer significant added value to users. A new solution should therefore be found.
Step 2
After the presentation to the stakeholders and my team, I got the task to develop a new module that addresses the user needs, is implemented in the new design and is placed in the right position on the model page.
Step 3
I started to collect relevant target group data, re-analysed the customer journey, carried out a competitive analysis and defined the goal of what information on leasing and financing is important, how it should be presented and where in the customer journey it should be made available to users.
Step 4
I soon began to develop and design both existing modules from the Porsche Design System and modules that I had designed myself. This took place through numerous feedback rounds with colleagues and potential users, resulting in an iterative process. In the end, after more than 20 design drafts, I decided on a variant, which I then developed in detail from a prototype to a realistic design draft.
Step 5
As the final step I presented the final result in a meeting with the stakeholders. I was given the chance to give the presentation myself and was able to defend my own design in front of the stakeholders, my bosses and the product owners. In the end, I convinced the stakeholders of my solution, which has now been implemented (see pictures). During the project, the collaboration with various colleagues and experienced UX designers was extremely enriching. I learnt how important open and honest feedback is.
